Zico’s #AnySongChallenge Leads K-Pop Star Up World Digital Song Sales Chart, New Streaming Highs
Zico's Viral #AnySongChallenge from 'Any Song' leads K-pop star up World Digital Song Sales Chart, new streaming highs.

As a member of boy band Block B and on his own as a solo artist and producer, Zico is no stranger to the Billboard charts but the 27-year-old is seeing the results of his clever viral challenge breaking new ground himself.
Zico’s new single “Any Song” debuted at No. 4 on Billboard‘s World Digital Song Sales chart last week, selling 1,000 copies in the week ending Jan. 16, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. The jazzy, genre-jumping tune will hold at No. 4 again this week on the chart with another 1,000 sold in the week ending Jan. 23.
But the bigger story for Zico’s “Any Song” might be in its streaming numbers. After its Jan. 13 release, the track picked up 1.2 million U.S. streams in the week ending Jan. 16 for its first tracking week out. But this past week, “Any Song” garnered 2.4 million U.S. streams in the week ending Jan. 23, up 100% from the previous week. Those numbers mean “Any Song” was streamed more this week than any Zico song has in total in America.
The influx of streams can partly be attributed to the accompanying viral dance challenge that Zico has created to go along with the track.
The #AnySongChallenge has seen the artist joined by fellow K-pop superstars for a fun, loosely choreographed take on the track’s opening sections. Zico first posted the #AnySongChallenge with Hwasa of girl group MAMAMOO with a 48-second clip of the duo garnering more than four million views to date on his Instagram and 4.2 million views on his TikTok page. Zico’s follow-up video with Chung Ha was even bigger with more than 6.1 million views on his Instagram account, an additional 2.8 million views from the singer re-posting on her page, plus a whopping eight million views from Zico’s TikTok.

Since the challenge started, the dance has taken off on Instagram and TikTok with some of Asia’s biggest singers and actors jumping on the trend including Tiffany Young, Sandara Park, Samuel, Cai Xukun, Lan Yingying, members of K-pop groups CLC, AB6IX, ?Weki Meki, X1 and more. While there hasn’t been much indication of the song picking up with influencers past Asia on social media, the song’s growing streaming numbers indicate healthy growth for “Any Song” and could find its way to making more impact if the viral trend picks up.
To date, Zico has landed landed eight hits on World Digital Song Sales. “Any Song” ties 2016’s “I Am You, You Are Me” and 2017’s “She’s a Baby” — which both peaked at No. 4 — as his highest-charting single unaccompanied as a solo act. Overall, Zico’s best-charting song is “Bermuda Triangle,” which features fellow hip-hop/R&B stars Crush and DEAN, and peaked at No. 3 in 2016. Zico’s boy band Block B has also scored 11 entries on World Digital Song Sales, their highest entry also at No. 3 from their “NalinA” in 2012.
