The story of mega-producer Mark Ronson will be available for all to see and hear on YouTube come Oct. 12, with the premiere of a new documentary called How to Be: Mark Ronson. Directed by Carl Hindmarch, the new film promises insights into Ronson’s winning creative process, as well as his backstory, working with Amy Winehouse and the lengthy (8 months) process to craft his and Bruno Mars’ huge hit “Uptown Funk.”
Helping to tell his story will be archival footage and interviews with many of the famous artists he’s worked with over the years, including Boy George, Bradley Cooper, Charlotte Ronson, Joshua Homme, King Princess, Lady Gaga, Lykke Li, Mick Jones, Miley Cyrus, Nikka Costa, Q-Tip, Rashida Jones, Sean Lennon and Simon Le Bon.
How to Be: Mark Ronson is a Livewire Pictures/Eagle Rock Films production in association with BBC Music and Eagle Rock Entertainment. The doc will be free to watch, with ads, as part of YouTube’s new programming strategy to open up its YouTube Originals to all users. YouTube Premium subscribers will get an ad-free version of the Ronson doc, as well as bonus content, including directors cuts.
