City of Hope & The Warrior of The Light Foundation Honor Late Music Exec Yassy Hosseini at Butterfly Ball

Last night (Apr 29), the music industry gathered to celebrate and reflect on the life of the late music exec Yassy Hosseini at the Peppermint Club in Los Angeles for City of Hope’s Music, Film, and Entertainment Industry group and The Warrior of the Light Foundation’s first annual Butterfly Ball. The fundraising event was an effort to raise money to fight cancer and celebrate what would have been the music executive’s 40th birthday.
The event, sponsored by Interscope Geffen A&M, featured performances from the likes of Black Eyed Peas, Too Short, Nikka Costa, Jessica Reynoso, Earl St. Clair and Brandon Banks. Liz Hernandez of Access Hollywood handled MC duties, and DJ Richie Rich was seen earlier in the night spinning for guests. Food service was sponsored by celebrity chef Sharone Hakman of Hak’s Foods. Virginia Black Whisky sponsored the green room, and Belvedere of the LVMH Group sponsored bottle service for the VIP lounges.
Yassy’s brother, Sam, addressed the crowd on behalf of The Warrior of the Light Foundation, saying, “We appreciate all of the support, everyone who has been through this with us,” before adding, “We are looking to have a great night celebrating a true warrior we recently lost.”
The small intimate group of 300 family and friends included Randy Jackson, rapper apl.de.ap and several guests of Interscope Records. Highlights from the night included a sweet rendition of Destiny’s Child “Stand Up for Love” by Jessica Reynoso, an energetic Nikka Costa performance of her 2001 song “Like a Feather,” Earl St. Clair’s ode to his own mom’s passing with the song “Pain” and Black Eyed Peas closing the house down with their hits. The night was one to remember, and for a great cause.
Founded in 1913, City of Hope is an independent research and treatment center for life threatening diseases including cancer and diabetes. The Warrior of the Light Foundation was established to honor the life and legacy of Yassy Hosseini, a 39-year old music executive who lost a seven-year battle to breast cancer. Hosseini was a music industry veteran and supporter of City of Hope, sitting on its Music, Film, and Entertainment Future Hope Committee.
