XXXTentacion’s ‘?’ Aiming for No. 1 Debut on Billboard 200 Albums Chart

XXXTentacion is on course for his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, according to industry forecasters. The hip-hop artist’s second studio effort, ?, could debut atop next week’s list with over 115,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending March 22. The set was released March 16 via Bad Vibes Forever.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the new March 31-dated Billboard 200 chart (where XXXTentacion may debut at No. 1) is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s websites on Sunday, March 25.

XXXTentacion’s new album follows the hip-hop artist’s previous effort, 17, which debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 dated Sept. 16, 2017. It launched with 87,000 units, of which 18,000 were in traditional album sales. The bow of ?, like 17, will be powered largely by streaming activity of the songs on the album.

? has already granted XXXTentacion his first top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, as “Sad!” debuted at No. 17 on the March 17 list. On the most recently compiled tally, dated March 24, the track fell to No. 19.

Elsewhere in the top 10 on next week’s Billboard 200 chart, watch for Metallica’s former No. 1 Hardwired… To Self-Destruct to return to the region, following sizable sales generated from a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer with the band’s upcoming U.S. and Canada tour. The chart will also welcome notable debuts from: Scotty McCreery’s Seasons Change (which could launch in the top 10), The DecemberistsI’ll Be Your Girl and Stone Temple Pilots‘ new self-titled album.
