Wayne Sharp is partnering up with Crush Music to lauch his own management company, Canal Street Music Management, announced today (March 19). Joining him on this move are Rick Springfield and The B-52s who will make up part of the company’s roster.
“Canal Street’s focus will be on iconic artists and will deliver them the respect, passion, and service they deserve,” said Sharp. “We feel we can bring new energy and contemporary ideas to established artists who wish to remain successful in today’s highly crowded and competitive recording, touring and branding fields.”
The name for the company is inspired by Sharp’s New Orleans hometown — he worked at Saenger Theater located on Canal Street which is where his interest for music business began.
Sharp’s experience in music business includes helping the careers of Harry Connick, Jr., Branford Marsalis, Joshua Redman and The Click Five during his time as senior vp of concerts at Madison Square Garden, Wilkins Management. He also worked with Maroon 5, Sara Bareilles, Barenaked Ladies, and Miguel while at Career Artist Management.
