WAV Launches New Hip-Hop Competition Series ‘Versus’: Exclusive
WAV premieres its new hip-hop competition series "Versus" exclusively on Billboard.
WAV, a music content and artist discovery platform, is dedicated to promoting emerging talents in the hip-hop and EDM community. For its newest series, WAV is bringing hip-hop back to one of its purest art forms, battle rap, with the launch of the new rap competition series Versus, premiering exclusively on Billboard today (Oct. 25).
Versus will be hosted by “lifestyle specialist” and entertainment industry vet Kenny Burns — known for working with Diddy and JAY Z — and will feature 11 contestants vying to become the last one standing. The series is described as “battle rap meets Survivor” as the contestants go head-to-head in a variety of challenges and are given the opportunity to vote each other off the show.

At the end of the seven-episode series, the finale will be live streamed and the final two contestants will perform an original song with the beat provided by Sonny Digital (Future, 2 Chainz, 21 Savage) and Scoop Deville (Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar). Viewers will then pick the winner, who will walk away with $10,000 cash and a record deal. Celebrity judges include Trinidad James, Curren$y, Murs, Casey Veggies, and more.
The series premieres on Wednesday (Oct. 25) at 12 pm ET/9 am PT on the WAV app.
