Warner Bros. Pictures has created a new role of vice president music production, appointing industry veteran Karen Elliott.
Warner Bros. Pictures has created a new role of vice president music production, appointing industry veteran Karen Elliott.
Elliot, who will be based at Warner Bros. studios at Leavesdon in the U.K., will be responsible for coordinating all music production and music licensing for theatrical releases filmed in the U.K., also helping retool and formalize the music department’s budgeting process for its entire release slate. She will report to Paul Broucek, president of music at Warner Bros. Pictures, based in Burbank.
“Music is so impactful in movies, and Karen has incredible taste and an impeccable track record working in all facets of film music,” said Broucek. “I’ve known and worked with her for over 20 years and have immense respect for her talent. She’s a great combination of creativity and strategy, and a great addition to our team.”
Prior to joining Warner Bros., Elliott served as director, Hot House Music, a full-service music agency which she co-founded in 2002, representing film and TV composers, music supervisors and score coordinators. She has also served as music supervisor on a number of Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema releases, including Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Legend of Tarzan, The Hobbit trilogy, and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.
Over the last two decades, Elliott has worked on the music for more than 70 films in roles ranging from music researcher and score coordinator to clearances and music supervisor.
