Victor Manuelle Scores Milestone 25th No. 1 on Tropical Songs Chart

A Tropical Songs chart record is matched as Victor Manuelle logs his 25th No. 1 with “Agua Bendita,” tying with Marc Anthony for most No. 1s on the chart. Both artists now rule by an 11-song lead over Gilberto Santa Rosa (with 14 leaders) in second place.

“Agua” steps 2-1 on the chart dated May 9, with a 41 percent rise in spins at the format (according to Nielsen Music), to top the ranking in its eighth charting week. The battle for the record of most No. 1s on the chart has bounced back and forth between Manuelle and Anthony in recent years, with each claiming the feat numerous times.

Manuelle simultaneously enters the Tropical Albums chart at No. 1, with his latest salsa set, Que Suenen Los Tambores, selling 4,000 copies. The entrance marks his 11th No. 1 on the chart.

The set’s title track previously spent eight weeks atop Tropical Songs, first reaching the peak on the chart dated Nov. 29. It also reached No. 4 on Tropical Digital Songs (Oct. 25), matching his prior peak on the list achieved in 2013 with “Me Llamare Tuyo.”

Manuelle recently released a video clip for “Algo Le Pasa a Me Heroe (Cancion a Mi Papa),” a track from the new album written for his father and family about the struggles of having a family member with Alzheimer’s disease. The singer joined forces with the Alzheimer’s Association in Puerto Rico for the campaign Ellos Olvidan, No Lo Hagas Tu (They Forget, But You Should Not), to help raise awareness for the disease.

The video features Jacobo Morales, a celebrated actor and director from Puerto Rico, and was filmed on the island in March.
