Two Latin music legends reach new milestones on the Regional Mexican Albums and Tropical Songs airplay charts.
First up, Vicente Fernandez scores his 49th top 10 on the former list (dated Aug. 25), as his new album Mas Romantico Que Nunca — released Aug. 10 via Sony Music Latin — bows at No. 8 with a little more than 1,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Aug. 16. Fernandez extends his record for the most top 10s on the chart.
Fernandez last visited the region almost two years ago when a pair of live albums debuted in the top 10 on the chart dated Oct. 1, 2016: Un Azteca En El Azteca Vol. 2 arrived in the penthouse, leading for one week, while Un Azteca En El Azteca Vol. 1 opened at No. 4.
Meanwhile, Victor Manuelle’s “Quiero Tiempo,” featuring Juan Luis Guerra, opens at No. 24 on the Tropical Songs airplay tally. With the track — Victor Manuelle and Guerra’s first collaboration — Manuelle collects his 70th entry on the list. He extends his record for the most charted hits on the list, or on any Latin airplay chart. Only Daddy Yankee, with 68 entries on the Latin Rhythm airplay chart, comes close to Manuelle’s tally.
Elsewhere on the Tropical Songs airplay list, Farruko picks up his 14th top 10 thanks to “Mi Forma de Ser” lifting 12-10 (up 29 percent in audience). The song was originally released as part of Farruko’s sixth studio album, TrapXficante (2017). The track’s mambo version, released July 20, features Dominican artist Ala Jaza, who scores his first top 10 on any Billboard chart.
