Vassy Vaults to No. 1 on Dance Club Songs Chart

Working with Tiesto, the vocalist hits the top with "Nothing to Lose."

Vassy leaps to the top of Billboard‘s Dance Club Songs chart (dated Feb.  4) with the Tiesto co-production “Nothing to Lose” (3-1), her third No. 1. The Greek-Australian vocalist previously led with “We Are Young” in March 2013 and “Hustlin’,” a collaboration with Crazibiza and Dave Aude, in November 2014.

“Nothing” previously reached the top 10 on Dance/Mix Show Airplay, peaking at No. 9 in December, marking Vassy’s third top 10, following two high-profile collaborations. She hit No. 7 in June 2014 with “Bad” (credited to David Guetta and Showtek featuring Vassy) and No. 9 in August 2015 with “Secrets” (Tiesto and Kshmr featuring Vassy).

Remixes from Anders Young, Brierley and Gozzi, among others, helped “Nothing” become everything this week for Vassy, who chatted with Billboard about her latest achievement.

How did “Nothing to Lose” originate?

Tiesto and I have wanted to work on another song since the success of “Secrets,” but he encouraged me to go solo on this one and co-produced it with me and gave me all his support and platform. He said it was time for me to do Vassy, [although he also invited] me [to] perform with him at the largest festivals around the world. It’s been a huge blessing and a fun journey!

What does the song mean to you?

?I wanted this song to have a different feel than “Secrets,” to be more blue-collar, a more gritty feel-good kind of vibe. That hard work pays off and, even if you start at the bottom, you can reach the top, and feel proud.

How does it feel to earn your third No. 1 (and second as the only credited artist on a track, after “We Are Young”) on our Dance Club Songs chart?

Amazing! I’m so honored and humbled. I thank everyone for their support: the DJs who play my music and the fans who love me and listen to my music. It inspires me to keep making good music.? I hope I can do that and not let anyone down.

Which are your favorite “Nothing to Lose” remixes?

?I love them all. That’s a tough one to answer … and could get me in trouble.
