Vans Warped Tour Reveals Details for 25th Anniversary Events

Fans of the timeless alt-music traveling festival, Vans Warped Tour, will be thrilled to hear that they will be back this summer for various cross-country celebrations of their 25th Anniversary.

Fans of the alt-music traveling festival, Vans Warped Tour, will be thrilled to hear that they will be back this summer for various cross-country celebrations of their 25th Anniversary.

Although the festival — made popular over the years for its eclectic lineup of mostly punk-rock up-and-coming as well as established bands and for showcasing skate culture — announced that last year would be its final run, Warped Tour reps have announced the upcoming events that were organized to celebrate its mark in the music world.

Fans can expect the usual vibrancy of the festival, but this time on a much larger scale, as it will set up shop in three different cities on three separate dates: June 8, June 29 – 30 and July 20 – 21. There will be over 50 bands across multiple stages, extreme sports (from skateboarding to motorcross) and even an art exhibit created in partnership with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, titled Forever Warped: 25 Years of Vans Warped Tour. A full list of bands will be announced on March 1.

The Vans Warped Tour’s first stop will be Cleveland on June 8, where fans will get to catch a first glimpse at the comprehensive art exhibition that will showcase artifacts from staple Warped bands, including instruments played by members of Fall Out Boy, No Doubt, Rancid and Reel Big Fish, as well as stage clothing from Joan Jett and Ice-T. That same day an opening concert will feature bands from across the Warped Tour history and a mini vert ramp.

From June 29 to 30, Warped Tour will station in Atlantic City, NJ for their only East Coast shows that will feature over 50-plus bands over the two-day event, extreme sports and the exhibit. They’ll close the celebrations on July 20 and 21 in Mountain View, Calif. at the Shoreline Amphitheatre.

In a statement by Vans Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman mentioned the significance of ending the celebrations in the Bay Area, as the Warped Tour and the bands they host made it a second home from it’s starting point in Southern California.

“I think probably close to half the bands on the first Warped Tour had some tie to the Bay Area,” Lyman stated. “There was the up-and-coming band The Deftones, and then of course the Fat Wreck [Chords] roster — Good Riddance, No Use For A Name, Face to Face, and Tilt.”

With almost a quarter-century worth of history, there is no doubt that these events will highlight the festival’s timeless place in the music world.

“With the [Vans Warped Tour] 25th Anniversary events, we want to bring the atmosphere of a classic Warped Tour show, but on a scale that our fans simply could not get with a national tour,” explained Lyman. “The bands, the special attractions, everything — we want to bring back elements that have made the Warped Tour, Warped Tour, over the past 25 years.”

Presale tickets will go on sale on Feb. 25, with all tickets available on March 1. See the dates for the Vans Warped Tour below, and visit their website for more information.
