Vampire Weekend debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated May 18) to become the top musical act in the U.S. for the first time, as the group’s new LP Father of the Bride bows at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 138,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music.
The band also lands 13 entries on the Hot Rock Songs chart, led by “Harmony Hall” at No. 10.
Vampire Weekend becomes the fifth group to debut at No. 1 on the Artist 100 (which launched in 2014), following Dave Matthews Band last year, Arcade Fire (2017), Blink-182 (2016) and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (2014).

Bride is the first LP that Vampire Weekend has released since the Artist 100’s inception, as it follows 2013’s Modern Vampires of the City.
The Artist 100 measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.
Rounding out the Artist 100’s top five, Billie Eilish elevates 5-2; BTS dips 2-3; Shawn Mendes jumps 24-4, as his new single “If I Can’t Have You” blasts onto the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 2; and Ariana Grande rises 7-5.
Among other Artist 100 moves, classic punk group Bad Religion debuts at No. 71, thanks to the group’s new LP Age of Unreason, which arrives at No. 11 on Top Rock Albums and No. 73 on the Billboard 200 with 10,000 units.
