Universal Music’s Michele Anthony Named UJA Music Visionary of the Year

Universal Music Group evp Michele Anthony has been named the 2017 Music Visionary of the Year but the UJA-Federation of New York. The honor arrives on the organization’s centennial anniversary.
Anthony will be feted “for her exceptional professional accomplishments and commitment to philanthropy” at a gala luncheon on June 14. Funds raised at the event are shared across various UJA efforts, including the Music for Youth initiative, which enables and supports quality children’s music education programming.
The event regularly draws top executives and artists. Among the performers who have taken the stage in the past are: Alicia Keys, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, Adele, Mariah Carey, Jay Z, HAIM and Jennifer Hudson.
Anthony, who appears on the Billboard Power 100 at No. 13, is a music industry veteran of 35 years who spent a great deal of her career at Sony Music, where she served as President and COO of Sony Music U.S. and worked with such acts as Pearl Jam, Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne. At UMG, she oversees 18 divisions including U.S. commercial services as well as the company’s global brand partnerships and live events arm.
Among her philanthropic endeavors is Anthony’s work with the Global Citizen project and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
