Twenty One Pilots Notch 10th No. 1 on Alternative Airplay Chart

'The Outside' reigns, also marking the duo's sixth straight non-seasonal leader.

Twenty One Pilots become the sixth act with at least 10 No. 1s in the 33-year history of Billboard‘s Alternative Airplay chart, as “The Outside” reaches the top of the survey dated Jan. 22.

The duo of Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun is the second act to reach double-digit No. 1s on the list after first leading in the 2010s; Cage the Elephant has tallied its 10 leaders in 2010-21.

“The Outside” is also Twenty One Pilots’ sixth straight non-holiday entry to top Alternative Airplay, a run that started with “Chlorine” in April 2019. Only “Christmas Saves the Year,” a No. 32-peaking song in the 2020-21 holiday season, interrupted the streak. Linkin Park is the only other act with as many non-seasonal No. 1s in a row, having strung together six in a row in 2003-07.
