Trump Slams Amazon for ‘Doing Great Damage’ in Twitter Post
"Amazon is doing great damage to tax paying retailers," Trump tweeted. "Towns, cities and states throughout the U.S. are being hurt - many jobs being lost!"

President Donald Trump blasted Amazon on Twitter for “doing great damage” to retailers and causing job losses early Wednesday (Aug 16), the latest outburst in a string of insults he’s hurled at the online retailer since the campaign trail. And this time, the social media fit is causing shares in Amazon to fall.
“Amazon is doing great damage to tax paying retailers,” the tweet reads. “Towns, cities and states throughout the U.S. are being hurt – many jobs being lost!”

Amazon shares fell as much as 1 percent in pre-market trading following Trump’s tweet, according to CNBC.
While it’s unclear exactly what prompted this particular attack from Trump, the Washington Post, which is owned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, published a searing editorial of the president on Wednesday titled “The nation can only weep.”
Trump has had it in for Amazon and the Post, which was acquired by Bezos in 2013, since his campaign for the presidency, promising to go after the company for antitrust violations if elected in February 2016. In June, he bashed the “#AmazonWashingtonPost” for “not paying internet taxes.”
