Music industry veteran Troy Carter will discuss the “future of music” during a keynote address at this year’s Midem conference in Cannes. In addition to being CEO and founder of management firm Atom Factory, Carter recently linked up with UTA to develop film, TV and theater projects, and until September was Spotify’s global head of creator services. Add his career work with Lady Gaga, John Legend and others and Carter will have plenty to talk about regarding music’s future at Midem.
“We’re proud to welcome such an incredibly forward-thinking spirit as Troy Carter to speak at Midem for the first time,” said Midem director, Alexandre Deniot. “He is one of the true leaders of the ‘New School’ of music execs. We’ve all been inspired by his achievements and how he continues to innovate in the music, tech and media mix. With his exciting new UTA partnership freshly announced, his keynote will make for a fascinating insight into the future of our industry.”
Added Carter, “Midem has become a preeminent platform for the most important discussions in the global music industry. I’m looking forward to discussing the current state of the business as well as the rapidly approaching future.”
Midem recently brought in David Hazan as head of North America, spearheading efforts to ensure the region is properly represented at the annual confab. In addition to the traditional mix of panels and keynotes from leaders in music and tech, this year’s Midem will also feature its own data-driven Midem Music Awards. The event will take place in Cannes, France, from June 4-7.
