Tove Lo recently sat down with Billboard to share what she considers to be her “Billboard moment,” explaining that when her song “Habits (Stay High)” hit the top 10 of the Hot 100 chart in 2014, it was a “surreal moment” and was a “huge feeling.”
The singer tells Billboard that when she found out the song hit No. 3 on the chart, she was at a birthday dinner in Stockholm for one of her fellow members of the songwriting collective Wolf Cousins.
“We were sitting at this restaurant…eating a bunch of halloumi cheese and drinking beer,” she recalls. “I remember Ludvig [Söderberg], who co-wrote and produced the song with me, leaned over and just showed me on his phone that ‘Habits’ was…No. 3.”
Tove Lo confesses that as she stared at the phone screen, it felt like a “surreal moment” and that being from “little Sweden,” she never imagined that she would reach such an achievement. “It was a huge feeling, really,” she adds.
