Grammy-nominated singer, composer and pianist Tori Amos has signed a worldwide publishing administration agreement with Downtown Music Publishing, the company announced on Monday (Jan. 7).
Moving forward, Downtown will administer the publishing rights to Amos’ complete 17-studio album catalog and all new works.
“Tori Amos joining Downtown is an absolute honor for me personally and professionally; her music has been the soundtrack to my life and the catalyst for my career path,” said Bea Koramblyum, Downtown’s vice president of business affairs, in a statement. “She is one of the most influential and beloved women in all of music, with an impressive catalog spanning over thirty years that’s not just creative, but inspirational. From her work with RAINN, her connection to her fans, and most importantly, her deeply moving words, she continues to uplift and encourage listeners. Downtown could not be more proud to be on Team Tori.”
Among the works included in the deal are Amos’ Hot 100-charting singles “Spark” (No. 49, 1998), “Jackie’s Strength” (No. 54, 1998), “Caught a Lite Sneeze” (No. 60, 1996), “Silent All These Years” (No. 65, 1997) and “God” (No. 72, 1994), with their respective albums and more. Outside of the singer-songwriter space, where Amos has released recordings on all the major labels, she has released classical music on the renowned classical label Deutsche Grammophon — including the 2012 Echo Klassik Award-winning Night of Hunters and also went on to make history by becoming the first woman to have a top 10 album on the U.S. Billboard charts in the classical, alternative and rock categories simultaneously. Amos also produced the original cast recording of The Light Princess in 2015, the musical adaption of the Scottish fairytale by George MacDonald, for which she wrote the music and lyrics.
“I am so thrilled to have Justin Kalifowitz, Bea Koramblyum, Bruce Lampcov and the rest of the Downtown team working with us to look after my song girls,” added Amos. “Downtown’s mindset on the future of songs and songwriting is truly unique and I can rest easier knowing the catalogue (and new songs to come) are in the right hands!”
