MagnusTheMagnus’ ‘Area’ Leads Top TV Commercials Chart for October
The track leads the chart after its appearance in Apple iPhone 8's "Unveiled" commercial.

Swedish electronic producer MagnusTheMagnus, aka Magnus Lidehäll, tops Billboard & Clio’s Top TV Commercials chart, for October, with “Area.” The track leads the chart after its appearance in Apple iPhone 8’s “Unveiled” commercial.
Using tagging data from Shazam, as well as sales and streaming information tracked by Nielsen Music, Billboard partners with Clio Music each month to present a chart ranking the top songs in commercials. Rankings exclude any song that has recently charted within the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 or top 10 on a genre chart.
“Area” leads all songs with 206,000 Shazam tags, 4,000 downloads sold and 530,000 U.S. streams during the month of October, according to Nielsen Music.
The song is just the second-ever Billboard chart appearance for Lidehäll, who spent two weeks on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales, thanks to buzz surrounding the commercial. He debuted at No. 24 on the chart dated Oct. 28, and reached No. 18 the following week (chart dated Nov. 4).
Just behind MagnusTheMagnus on the Top TV Commercials chart, Peggy Lee’s “Similau (See-Me-Lo)” opens at No. 4 following its appearance in Samsung Galaxy Note8’s “I Love You” commercial.
The track never entered a Billboard chart when it was released in 1949, but earned Lee her first chart entry in seven years, as the song debuted at No. 11 on the Jazz Digital Song Sales chart (dated Oct. 7) and spent four nonconsecutive weeks at No. 2 (beginning on the chart dated Oct. 14).
The song logged 46,000 Shazam tags, 6,000 downloads sold and 303,000 U.S. streams in October.
With the debut on Jazz Digital Song Sales, the song was Lee’s second song appearance on a Billboard chart since her death in 2002. Her song “Fever” has spent 175 total weeks on the Jazz Digital Song Sales chart since May 2010, reaching as high as No. 3 in 2011.
Finally, Joe Cocker’s “With A Little Help From My Friends” re-enters the Top TV Commercials chart at No. 12 after previously hitting No. 5 on the chart in April. The song re-enters thanks to its appearance in Volkswagen’s “Rain” commercial, while its previous entry was due to Walmart’s “A Chain Reaction” commercial.
Thanks to the new commercial, the song logs 22,000 Shazam tags, 7,000 downloads sold, and 669,000 U.S. streams in October.
“Friends” reached No. 68 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated Dec. 14, 1968, while The Beatles’ original recording, which didn’t chart until 1978 when it was released commercially as a single, peaked at No. 71.
