South Coast Music Group Star Toosii Signs With Capitol Records: Exclusive

Arnold Taylor‘s South Coast Music Group (SCMG) just scored another win, signing a new deal with Capitol Records to release music by rising talent Toosii, Billboard has learned. 

This week, the “Love Cycle” star debuted inside the Billboard 200 top 20 of the with his smoldering project Poetic Pain. Keeping the features minimal — except for Summer Walker and Lil Durk — Toosii controls the narrative with his steely raps and melodic croons. 

Jeff Vaughn, president of Capitol Records, relayed to Billboard how Toosii’s ambition and DNA resembles that of the hip-hop greats. “Toosii possesses that rare combination of creativity, intelligence, and ambition you only find in the greats,” says Vaughn. “We are excited to welcome him, and our partners Arnold Taylor and South Coast Music Group, to Capitol Records.”

“I couldn’t see myself anywhere else. It’s like it was fate,” Toosii tells Billboard. “To meet Jeff three years ago as an A&R and then, three years later, he’s the president of Capitol Records, and I’m the next big thing, I couldn’t see it no other way. I’m happy to be a part of the FAMILY.”  

For Taylor, SCMG CEO, he recalled first listening to Toosii and recognizing how his potential would further push his label to new heights. “The first time I listened to Toosii, I knew he was a megastar, which is why I did not hesitate signing him to South Coast Music Group. Knowing Jeff Vaughn’s history of developing artists, I knew Capitol Records would be the right partner for Toosii and South Coast Music Group!”

SCMG’s roster also includes DaBaby, Blacc Zacc, Big Mali and Tina Corine.
