Australia’s Tones and I has taken the world by storm with her breakthrough single “Dance Monkey.” Now, the singer (real name: Toni Watson) has announced her signing to Elektra Records and debuted her premiere EP, The Kids Are Coming, exclusively via Billboard today (Aug. 29).
The Kids Are Coming is available on all major streaming services, ushering in Tones and I’s signing to Elektra. The label will release her music in all regions except Australia and New Zealand, where she’ll continue to do so via Bad Batch Records.
Tones and I released debut single “Johnny Run Away” earlier this year, followed by “Dance Monkey.” The latter has become a success in her native Australia and beyond; it spends its fourth week at No. 1 in Australia this week and has also topped charts in Denmark, Sweden and more.
The track has also begun to find success in the U.S., where it debuts at No. 22 on the Alternative Digital Song Sales chart dated Aug. 31 with 1,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen Music. It’s currently bubbling under the Alternative Songs airplay tally.
Unsurprisingly, “Dance Monkey” is featured on the newly released EP, as are “Johnny Run Away,” “Never Seen the Rain” and three previously unreleased tunes.
Warner Chappell additionally signed Tones and I to a publishing deal the same day in all markets but Australia and New Zealand.
Tones and I also has multiple tour dates scheduled through the end of 2019 and into 2020, mostly in Australia and New Zealand but with select European shows in November as well.
