Zella Day follows in the sonic footsteps of ethereal alt-pop female singer-songwriters like Lana Del Rey and Tove Lo on her debut hit, “Hypnotic” (Hollywood), which debuts on the Adult Alternative Songs airplay chart at No. 25. The song introduces her album Kicker, due June 2. Day, from tiny Pinetop, Ariz., has drawn more than 1 million clicks for the song’s official videos on her YouTube channel. –Gary Trust (@gthot20)

Wolf Alice
North London’s Wolf Alice is on the verge of its Alternative Songs chart debut with “Moaning Lisa Smile” (Dirty Hit/RCA), up 79 percent in plays, according to Nielsen Music. The ’90s-reminiscent track features sludgy and fuzzy guitars, over which lead vocalist Ellie Roswell sings a melodic hook. The four-piece releases its first album, My Love Is Cool, produced by Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys, The 1975), on June 23. –Emily White (@emwhitenoise)

Rapper Chedda Da Connect enters the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop airplay chart at No. 33 with “Flicka Da Wrist” (LMG/eOne).
