Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats
Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats’ debut single “S.O.B.” jumps 27-19 on Hot Rock Songs in its second week, with the retro-soulful Americana track building at alternative and adult alternative radio. The band made its national TV debut Aug. 5 on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, following an enthusiastic tweet from the host (“If you believe in soul… if you believe in rock n roll… if you believe in performing your guts out… Enjoy the band on our show tonight.”) The group releases its self-titled debut on Stax Records Aug. 21. –Emily White (@emwhitenoise)
Phoebe Ryan
Phoebe Ryan bullets at No. 39 on the Billboard + Twitter Emerging Artists chart with “Mine.” The 24-year-old’s whimsical pop tune has benefitted from several remixes. The Los Angeles-based songwriter scored earlier attention for “Ignition/Do You…,” her mashup of songs by R. Kelly and Miguel, respectively. William Michael Morgan
William Michael Morgan nears the Country Airplay chart with his refreshingly traditional country “I Met a Girl” (Warner Bros./Warner Music Nashville). Sweet, romantic and full of pedal steel guitar, the song is receiving notable support at SiriusXM’s The Highway channel. The 22-year-old from Vicksburg, Miss., makes his debut appearance at the Grand Ole Opry Sept. 5. –Jim Asker
