Each Friday, Billboard presents Tomorrow’s Hits, a weekly look at new and noteworthy acts making their way toward Billboard chart success.
After crowning multiple European charts, French producer/DJ The Avener (real name: Tristan Casara) has released his breakout hit “Fade Out Lines” in the U.S. through Casablanca/Republic. The track, which boasts 18 million Spotify plays, is a house-infused reworking of Phoebe Killdeer & The Short Straws’ bluesy original, first released in 2011. The 28-year-old Casara is prepping his debut full-length due later this year. –Emily White (@emwhitenoise)
Arista Nashville signed singer/songwriter Cam (aka, Camaron Ochs) at the end of 2014 and her debut single, the uptempo, melodic “My Mistake,” is already nearing the Country Airplay chart. Unsurprising given her pop sensibilities, she scored a songwriting credit on Miley Cyrus’ 2013 album Bangerz and is working on her debut album with producers Jeff Bhasker (Beyonce, Bruno Mars) and Tyler Johnson (Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran). Cam toured with country duo Dan + Shay last year and will appear at the Stagecoach Festival in Indio, Calif., April 24. –Wade Jessen
Young Rising Sons
Having formed in Red Bank, New Jersey in 2010, pop/rock quartet Young Rising Sons signed with Canvas/Interscope in 2014. Now its major-label debut single “High” is bubbling under Adult Pop Songs. Helping the track’s profile: its synch in Snapchat’s campaign for its new multimedia Discover feature. The 1-minute spot, featuring the song’s audio throughout, has drawn 350,000 YouTube views since its Jan. 26 posting. –Gary Trust (@gthot20)
