All IN Fest Sets Tom Petty, Allman Brothers Tributes With SuperJam-Inspired Lineups

The newly-unveiled "Dreamsets" will feature Chuck Leavell, Jenny Lewis, John Oates, Deep Purple's Steve Morse and more.

The concert promoter and producer responsible for the SuperJam and the PoWow concepts will be unveiling his latest creation, the “Dreamset,” in less than two weeks during the inaugural All IN Music & Arts Festival slated for Labor Day weekend (Sept 3-4) in Indianapolis. The first night of the festival will honor the Allman Brothers Band, while the second night is celebrating the music of Tom Petty.

All IN is being promoted by Indy Festival Partners, the new collaborative effort created by longtime festival producers and friends Steve Sybesma, Dave Lucas, Paul Peck and Kevin Browning. Peck and Sybesma were the founding partners of the Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival in Okeechobee, Florida; Peck is also a former executive at Superfly and helped co-launch Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tenn in 2002 and Outside Lands in San Francisco in 2008.

Peck said the concept for the Dreamset format is to bring together celebrated and unique artists to perform as a once-in-a-lifetime house band honoring the legacy of mega-star artists through performance and music. The concept is an evolution of the SuperJam, which Peck launched at the first Bonnaroo in 2002 as a way to pair unlikely artists and bands who often aren’t revealed until they take the stage for the ultimate live jam session (the first iteration included Michael Kang, Bela Fleck, Jeff Raines and Robert Randolph). For the first annual Okeechobee fest in 2016, Peck also introduced the same concept under the name PoWow, curating the inaugural lineup of Miguel, Win Butler of Arcade FireJohn Oates, George Porter, Jr., Kamasi Washington, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and more.

The Dreamset lineup for the first night of All IN honoring the Allman Brothers Band includes Chuck Leavell, Johnny Stachela, Gerry Hansen and Duane Betts, Berry Oakley Jr. (the son of the late Berry Oakley), Widespread Panic‘s JoJo Hermann and Sunny Ortiz, drummer Rod Morgenstein, Deep Purple‘s Steve Morse, Bill Nershi of The String Cheese Incident and guitarist Samantha Fish. Both Leavell and Betts will serve as music directors for the Dreamset.

The lineup for the Tom Petty Dreamset tribute during the second night of the festival will include the band Dawes and also feature Matt Shultz and Daniel Tichenor of Cage the Elephant, John Oates, Rick Mitarotonda from Goose, Ivan Neville of The Neville Brothers and Dumpstaphunk fame, Jenny Lewis and Nicki Bluhm.

“We curated All IN to celebrate the power of great songs played live by amazing performers in an awesome environment,” says Peck. “There is pure joy created in those moments. These Dreamsets are the purest form of that idea — world class artists, stepping into new territory to celebrate the songs we all know and creating a special experience that we will all share together.  With major surprises in the works these Dreamsets will be special moments in music history.”

Ticket prices for All IN start at $109.50. You can find more at allinfestival.com.
