Tom Alexander Exits Tacoma Dome for Orange County’s Honda Center

The veteran booking manager previously helped lead the turnaround of the Tacoma Dome.

The Tacoma Dome’s booking manager Tom Alexander is headed south to Orange County, where he will book and program the Honda Center as well as new venues set to be contained within ocV!BE, a proposed $3 billion mixed-use community surrounding the home to the Anaheim Ducks.

Alexander has been named vp of programming of ocV!BE in Anaheim, California, joining his former boss Kim Bedier, who was hired as senior vp and general manager of ocV!BE and Honda Center in July. Starting Dec. 13, Alexander will oversee and provide strategic leadership to the programming department managing the booking process for concerts, shows and non-NHL events at Honda Center as well as venues within ocV!BE, including an amphitheater, club and 6,000-seat theater. With a target opening date of 2024, OcV!BE will include also be home to dining and retail offerings as well as public amenities and recreational space.

At their former gig in Washington, the two touring and venue management executives helped lead the turnaround of the city-owned Tacoma Dome — the world’s largest wooded dome arena — just outside of Seattle. After being hired to manage and book the arena in 2012, Alexander and Bedier were able to significantly increase the Tacoma Dome’s show count and ticket sales. In 2019, The Tacoma Dome achieved its highest ranking in venue history, earning the No. 15 position in the U.S. and No. 20 in the world according to Billboard Boxscore, with more than $45 million in gross ticket sales and attendance of almost 600,000.

A Southern California native, Alexander tells Billboard he’s “excited to be part of the growth and new opportunities happening in and around Honda Center. The ownership and management of the arena have done an excellent job with the arena and I plan on utilizing every opportunity available to continue bringing top notch entertainment to the millions of people in and around Orange County.”

Alexander’s career history encompasses a variety of positions within the industry. Early in his career, he worked within the A&R department at Sony Music Entertainment. He later dove into touring with a wide variety of artists, including Andrea Bocelli and, most recently, Roger Waters and Nickelback, when he served as the assistant tour director and VIP manager for Live Nation. In Spring 2011, Alexander joined the booking team for Live Nation’s Southern region and shortly after began his role as booking manager for Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas before taking his role at the Tacoma Dome in 2013.

“I am thrilled for industry veteran Tom Alexander to join the ocV!BE team,” says Bedier. “With his wealth of experience in the live entertainment industry and key relationships with influential agents, managers, and promoters, he will make an immediate impact at Honda Center and, in the coming years, help us bring world-class entertainment to ocV!BE’s exciting new venues!”
