Tokimonsta has signed with WME for representation in the Americas and across Asia/Pacific territories, the agency announced today (Aug. 17).
The Grammy-nominated producer was previously represented by Paradigm. She’ll continue to be represented by Lewis Kunstler at 2+2 Management, Dana Meyerson at Biz3 and Grace Y. Kim, Esq. at Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks.
Born Jennifer Lee, the Los Angeles-based artist has been particularly busy during quarantine, performing a run of dance festival livestreams including Digital Mirage and Rave the Vote and hosting her weekly livestream show Lost Resort, which has featured interviews with Claude VonStroke, Alison Wonderland, Wajatta and more.
Appearing on the cover of Billboard‘s 2019 dance issue, Lee discussed her recovery from the rare brain disease moyamoya, which in 2015 left her unable to make music or even speak.
“The year after my recovery, I did all these things to push myself forward in this heroic leap,” she said. “But I didn’t address anything I went through. I didn’t want to think about it. It wasn’t until I started talking about my experience that I looked back and was proud of how I propelled myself.”
Based on her experience with the disease, Lee’s 2018 LP Lune Rouge was nominated for best dance/electronic album at the 2019 Grammys. She was the first woman ever nominated in the category. Released via her own Young Art label (founded in 2014) 2020’s Oasis Nocturno is her sixth studio album. A pair of remix versions of the album, featuring reworks by AC Slater, Damian Lazarus, Dombresky and more, will be released this fall.
