Comedy/rap duo Tiny Meat Gang has signed with Arista Records, Billboard can exclusively announce today (Oct. 24).
As part of the deal, the collective comprised of Cody Ko and Noel Miller will release a new EP with the label, though the date for the project is as-of-yet unannounced. However, that hasn’t kept TMG from a busy 2019, including new releases such as the earwormy “Walk Man” and “Short Kings Anthem,” the latter of which receives a lift from Blackbear.
“We couldn’t be more pumped to join the Arista family,” the duo tells Billboard. “David [Massey, president/CEO of Arista] and Matt [D’Arduini, svp, A&R] and the rest of the team are the best in the biz and have launched careers for some of the most successful acts in the world. As we continue to grow, we wanted to find a home that is as dedicated to our music as we are, and we’re confident that they are the best people to help take us to the next level.”
Since first forming in 2017, TMG has dropped two EPs (Bangers & Ass and Locals Only in 2017 and 2018, respectively), started a self-titled podcast, and sold out theaters across the country as part of a nationwide live comedy tour. Both Ko and Miller first rose to prominence on Vine, the former clip-sharing social media app, before delving into other platforms. More recently, they have found success with popular YouTube series “That’s Cringe,” which was co-signed by Halsey in January.
Says Massey and D’Arduini: “We are so happy to have Tiny Meat Gang join the Arista family. They are a brilliant and innovative duo creating dynamic content across multiple platforms. We look forward to working together with them on their one-of-a-kind projects.”
