Tinashe’s latest single “Player,” featuring Chris Brown, debuts at No. 9 on Hot R&B Songs (dated Oct. 24), her highest bow yet. Sales for “Player” provide the bulk of points supporting the arrival, with 24,000 downloads logged during the tracking week ending Oct. 8, according to Nielsen Music (enough for a No. 4 bow on R&B Digital Songs).
The song, released Oct. 1, is also aided by 1.3 million U.S. streams in its first week, with 39 percent of total clicks stemming from Spotify plays.
Tinashe peaked at No. 3 on Hot R&B Songs in 2014 with her first chart hit, “2 On,” featuring ScHoolboy Q.
The new entrance extends Brown’s lead for most top 10s to 15, on the three-year-old hybrid chart. (Drake follows with nine.) “Player” previews Tinashe’s forthcoming sophomore album, Joyride.

Miss Jackson’s Seventh No. 1: Janet Jackson collects her seventh No. 1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, as Unbreakable arrives in top slot with 109,000 sold. She previously led the tally with Discipline (in 2008), 20 Y.O. (2006), All for You (2001), janet. (1993), Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814 (1989) and Control (1986).
Tamar Braxton Bows: Coming in at No. 2 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums is Tamar Braxton’s Calling All Lovers (38,000). It follows her No. 1-debuting Love and War in 2013 (114,000 sold in its first week).
While her current single “Catfish” dips one spot (38-37) in its second week on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop airplay chart, album cut “King” becomes the third charting single (overall) from the set, entering R&B Digital Songs at No. 19. The first Lovers track to chart was lead single “If I Don’t Have To,” which reached No. 6 on Adult R&B Songs on Aug. 15.
Braxton makes her debut on the Billboard Artist 100 (which ranks the week’s most popular artists across all genres), opening at No. 14 amid the buzz surrounding her album release.
Drake Dominates at Radio: Elsewhere on the R&B/hip-hop charts, Drake earns two new airplay No. 1s as “Hotline Bling” crowns both Rhythmic Songs (3-1) and R&B/Hip Hop Airplay (2-1). On the latter list, he extends his lead for most No. 1s (17). On the Rhythmic Songs chart, he’s now tied with Rihanna for the second-most chart-toppers (11), inching towards Usher’s reign (13).
