Third Man Reformats Its Daily Livestreamed Series, Third Man Public Access

Third Man Public Access has relaunched with a new — likely more sustainable and safer — model built for a longer-than-expected quarantine.

Just over a month ago, Third Man Records’ launched Third Man Public Access, a series of daily performances livestreamed from the label’s iconic Blue Room within its Nashville headquarters (TMR assured that fewer than 10 people would be in the Blue Room at a time, all staying more than 6 feet apart).

The initial plan was to continue as is for the “foreseeable future,” though today (April 22), Third Man Public Access has relaunched with a new — likely more sustainable and safer — model built for a longer-than-expected quarantine.

Instead of daily live performances, TMPA will now share long-form broadcasts of exclusive content, intimate at-home performances, readings, music videos and more — all from Third Man artists and friends — on the label’s YouTube channel.

“We’re attempting to capture the lunacy and creativity of this incredibly unique time and present it through an early MTV meets late night UHF psychedelic experience,” says Third Man co-founder Ben Swank. “Join us, while we laugh through the tears in the rain… Fuck Trump.”

The latest episode of TMPA includes an at-home performance from Olivia Jean and J Mascis (accompanied by his son Rory); a showcase from artists including Kelley Stoltz, Redd Kross, Dale Crover and Luke Schneider; a reading from Third Man Books author Ben Myers; and Shadow Show explain how to record a demo.

As before, Third Man will be including Venmo and PayPal handles for all performers so that viewers and fans can send a tip remotely. More episodes are currently underway, which the label will later announce on its social pages.
