The Who Preps North American ‘Who Hits 50!’ Tour For 2015

The Who is returning to the road in North America for 2015 — “The Who Hits 50!” Tour will swing through the States twice, beginning with a spring leg that kicks off April 15 in Tampa, Fl. and runs through May 30 in Forest Hills, NY, then resuming in the fall on Sept. 14 in San Diego and running through Nov. 4 in Philadelphia. Tickets go on sale to the general public next Friday, Oct. 17, at 10 a.m. (local time) at www.TheWho.com.
The tour is presented by AEG Live, and Citi, via a deal brokered by MAC Presents, is the official credit card. “From the band’s first hit single ‘I Can’t Explain’ to pioneering the rock opera with Tommy, The Who is one of the most influential and storied bands of our time,” Jennifer Breithaupt, Citi’s senior VP of Entertainment Marketing, said in a statement. “This will be one of the most anticipated tours of 2015 and we are delighted to be able to offer Citi cardmembers early access to see this legendary band perform.”
The Who Hits 50! Tour will feature exclusive VIP packages, including reserved tickets for premium seats, access to a VIP pre-show soundcheck, pre-show VIP parties and autographed limited edition memorabilia. The tour also shares its name with Who Hits 50!, a new greatest-hits compilation due Oct. 27 via Geffen/Universal Music Enterprises. The album will span the band’s first recordings as The High Numbers to its greatest Who hits to a brand-new track, titled “Be Lucky.”
As for the shows themselves? Pete Townshend teased the set list as “hits, picks, mixes and misses.”
Added Roger Daltrey, in a statement, “This is the beginning of the long goodbye.”
