The Weeknd Holds Atop Hot 100, Taylor Swift Hits Top 10 With ‘Wildest Dreams’
The Weeknd remains atop the Billboard Hot 100, as "The Hills" spends a second week at No. 1 and becomes the best-selling and most-heard song in the U.S.

The Weeknd’s “Face” holds at No. 3 on the Hot 100. In addition to its 1-2 fall on Radio Songs, it drops 4-6 on Streaming Songs (13.4 million, down 9 percent) and 6-10 on Digital Songs (72,000, down 10 percent). It became his first Hot 100 No. 1, for three nonconsecutive weeks, with “Hills” having succeeded it at the summit last week.
Drake dashes into the Hot 100’s top five with “Hotline Bling” (9-4). His highest-charting hit since “Hold On, We’re Going Home,” featuring Majid Jordan (No. 4, 2013), “Bling” pushes 3-2 on Digital Songs (104,000, up 21 percent); 6-5 on Streaming Songs (14.1 million, up 15 percent), earning the Hot 100’s top Digital Gainer honors for a third week; and 33-17 on Radio Songs (56 million, up 44 percent), tacking on the top Airplay Gainer award on the Hot 100. The track also rises 3-1 to crown Hot Rap Songs.
And the Hot 100’s Canadian invasion continues: the entire top four songs on the chart belong to Canadians, all of whom are from Ontario, as Drake, from Toronto, joins The Weeknd, from Scarborough, and Bieber, from London.

Meanwhile, Drake takes top headlines on the Billboard 200, where What a Time to Be Alive, his mixtape with Future, debuts at No. 1 with 375,000 equivalent album units earned in its first week.
Capping the Hot 100’s top five, Silento’s No. 3-peaking “Watch Me” slides 4-5, while rebounding 3-1 for a ninth week atop Streaming Songs (19.7 Million, up 11 percent).
Fetty Wap’s “679,” featuring Remy Boyz, hits a new Hot 100 highpoint (7-6); R. City’s “Locked Away,” featuring Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, retreats to No. 7 from its No. 6 peak; Selena Gomez’s “Good for You,” featuring A$AP Rocky, drops to No. 8 from its No. 5 high; and OMI’s former six-week No. 1 and Billboard’s top song of the summer, “Cheerleader,” slides 8-9.
Rounding out the top tier, Taylor Swift soars into the Hot 100’s top 10, as “Wildest Dreams” jumps 13-10. The song holds at No. 4 on Digital Songs (89,000, up 5 percent); becomes her 10th top 10 on Radio Songs (12-7; 87 million, up 24 percent); and surges 36-24 on Streaming Songs (5.6 million, up 23 percent).

Swift snags her fifth Hot 100 top 10 from 1989, following “Shake It Off” (No. 1 for four weeks), “Blank Space” (No. 1, seven weeks), “Style” (No. 6) and “Bad Blood,” featuring Kendrick Lamar (No. 1, one week). 1989 is the first album to generate at least five Hot 100 top 10s since Perry’s Teenage Dream (six, including five No. 1s, tying Michael Jackson’s Bad for the most leaders from one set) in 2010-11.
“Dreams” is Swift’s 19th Hot 100 top 10, the sixth-best sum among women in the chart’s 57-year history. Madonna leads all female soloists (and all acts) with 38 Hot 100 top 10s, followed by Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson (27 each), Rihanna (26) and Whitney Houston (23).
Among action outside the Hot 100’s top 10, Shawn Mendes’ “Stitches” rises 12-11, hitting a new peak; Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Downtown,” featuring Eric Nally, Melle Mel, Kool Moe Dee and Grandmaster Caz, bullets again at its No. 16 highpoint; and Ellie Goulding boasts the chart’s top debut, as “On My Mind,” the lead single from her Nov. 6 album Delirium, enters at No. 22.
