The pop/R&B singer-songwriter-producer’s new LP After Hours logs its second week atop the Billboard 200 with 138,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, partially aided by a new deluxe version of the album with three new tracks. The set debuted atop the chart dated April 4 with 444,000 units, the top weekly total for any album this year.
The Weeknd concurrently rules the Hot 100 for a second week with “Blinding Lights,” while also charting the LP’s tracks “Heartless” (No. 12, following its one-week reign at No. 1 in December), “In Your Eyes” (No. 42), the title track (No. 61) and “Save Your Tears” (No. 85).
Since the Artist 100’s 2014 launch, only Taylor Swift and Drake have spent more time at No. 1 than The Weeknd, with 37 and 31 weeks on top, respectively.
This week marks the second straight frame, and fourth total time, that The Weeknd has completed the trifecta of ruling the Artist 100, Hot 100 and Billboard 200 simultaneously. He first led all three lists together on Sept. 26, 2015, thanks to his album Beauty Behind the Madness and single “Can’t Feel My Face,” and then again the following week with Madness and subsequent Hot 100 leader “The Hills.”
Since the Artist 100 launched in 2014, seven other artists have ruled all three charts simultaneously. Drake has achieved the feat a record 14 times (most recently on Aug. 11, 2018, with Scorpion and “In My Feelings”), followed by Swift (seven), Adele (six), Ariana Grande and Ed Sheeran (two each) and Camila Cabello and Kendrick Lamar (one each).
Plus, late country star Joe Diffie debuts on the Artist 100 chart at No. 22, following his death from complications of COVID-19 on March 29. His 16 Greatest Hits debuts at No. 4 on Top Country Albums and No. 38 on the Billboard 200 with 15,000 units (up from 1,000), marking his highest ranks on both charts; he earns his first top five entry on the former survey and his first top 40 title on the latter.
The Artist 100 measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.
