The Raconteurs debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated July 6) to become the top musical act in the U.S. for the first time, as the group’s third LP Help Us Stranger arrives atop the Billboard 200 with 88,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music.

The band also debuts a pair of songs on the Hot Rock Songs chart: the set’s title track at No. 31 and “Bored and Razed” at No. 47.

The Raconteurs, fronted by Jack White, become the sixth group to launch atop the Artist 100, following fellow rock bands Vampire Weekend, in May, Dave Matthews Band (2018), Arcade Fire (2017), Blink-182 (2016) and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (2014).

Notably, White becomes the first artist to lead the Artist 100 in different iterations, first as a solo act last year and now with The Raconteurs. His other project, The Dead Weather, spent a week on the chart, at No. 32 in 2015, while his breakout project, The White Stripes, hasn’t yet appeared (as the chart began in 2014, after the duo disbanded in 2011).

The Artist 100 measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.

Rounding out the Artist 100’s top five, Billie Eilish holds at No. 2; Lil Nas X leaps 12-3, returning to his chart high, as his new EP 7 opens at No. 2 on the Billboard 200; BTS rises 6-4; and Jonas Brothers keep at No. 5.
