The Head and the Heart’s “Rivers and Roads” rules The Hollywood Reporter‘s Top TV Songs chart, powered by Tunefind and Shazam, for February, thanks to its appearance in ABC’s The Good Doctor.
Rankings for the Top TV Songs chart are based on song and show data provided by Tunefind and ranked using a formula blending respective Shazam tags, as well as sales and streaming information tracked by Nielsen Music during the corresponding period.
“Rivers and Roads,” which appeared on the group’s debut self-titled album in 2011, leads all songs with 19,000 Shazam tags, 3,000 downloads sold and 2.9 million U.S. streams in February, according to Nielsen Music.
The track has only appeared once on a Billboard chart, back in 2015, when it reached No. 48 on the Rock Digital Song Sales chart following its placement in the fourth season finale of Fox’s New Girl (May 5).
This is also the second time The Head and the Heart have appeared on the Top TV Songs ranking. Their hit “All That We Ever Knew” landed at No. 5 on the October 2016-dated chart, after its appearance in ABC’s The Real O’Neals.
Just below “Rivers and Roads,” Yaz’s 1983 hit “Only You” debuts at No. 3, thanks to its appearance in Fox’s Lucifer. Thanks to the show, the song logged 9,000 Shazam tags, 2,000 downloads sold and 616,000 U.S. streams in February.
“Only You” peaked at No. 67 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1983, and has since been covered by numerous artists, including Selena Gomez, Kylie Minogue and Enrique Iglesias.
Finally, Jodeci debuts on the tally at No. 5 with their 1996 hit “Get On Up” thanks to its appearance in Showtime’s The Chi.
The song peaked at No. 22 on the Hot 100 in June 1996 and No. 4 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Thanks to its appearance, the single earned 6,000 Shazam tags, 1,000 downloads sold and 338,000 U.S. streams in February.
