The Head and the Heart’s ‘Missed Connection’ Rules Alternative Songs Chart

The song has now ruled both the Alternative Songs and Adult Alternative Songs charts.

The Head and the Heart notches its second No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs airplay chart, as “Missed Connection” rises 3-1 on the list dated July 27 with a 14% gain in plays at the format in the week ending July 21, according to Nielsen Music.

The band first led with “All We Ever Knew” for a week in December 2016, which was also its first-charting title on the tally.  It followed with the No. 21-peaking “Rhythm & Blues” in May 2017 prior to the ascent of “Missed Connection.”

The new No. 1 previously topped Adult Alternative Songs for a week in June, becoming the band’s third leader.

Three other songs have led both Adult Alternative Songs and Alternative Songs in 2019: The Lumineers’ “Gloria,” The Black Keys’ “Lo/Hi” and Cage the Elephant’s “Ready to Let Go.”

It logs its fifth week at its No. 3 Rock Airplay high, up 9% to 8.6 million audience impressions, according to Nielsen Music.

“Missed Connection” is the lead single from The Head and the Heart’s fourth studio album, Living Mirage. The album debuted at No. 16 on the Billboard 200 dated June 1, moving 24,000 units in its first week.
