The Chainsmokers and Coldplay continue at No. 1 for a 20th cumulative week on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart (dated Oct. 14) with “Something Just Like This.” The collaboration has ruled nonconsecutively dating to its first week at No. 1 back on March 18 (and currently leads for a third consecutive week).
The Chainsmokers are now the only act to score multiple leaders of at least 20 weeks each since the chart’s Jan. 2013 inception. On March 4, the DJ duo set a new mark for the most weeks at No. 1 for any song when “Closer,” featuring Halsey, logged its record 27th week on top.
CHEAT CODES & LOVATO LEAP: Cheat Codes take two more steps toward their potential first No. 1 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, as “No Promises,” featuring Demi Lovato, pushes 4-2. The chart’s top Airplay Gainer is up by 11 percent to 61 million all-format audience impressions in the week ending Oct. 1, according to Nielsen Music. It also drew 7 million U.S. streams and sold 8,000 downloads.
“Promises” is already the highest-charting for both Cheat Codes (the DJ trio of Matthew Russell, Trevor Dahl and Kevin Ford) and Lovato. The DJs have one prior top 10 to their credit, “Sex,” with Kris Kross Amsterdam, which hit No. 10 in July 2016.
HIGH ‘WAY’: Additionally on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, DJ Snake starts at No. 11 with “A Different Way,” featuring Lauv. The song drew 3 million domestic streams and sold 10,000 downloads in the tracking week, as it debuts on Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales (No. 4) and Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs (No. 25).
OTHER CUTS: On Top Dance/Electronic Albums, Cut Copy bows at No. 11 with Haiku From Zero (3,000 equivalent album units). Of its unit total, 2,000 are from traditional album sales, sparking the set’s No. 1 debut on Dance/Electronic Album Sales. Haiku is the act’s fourth title to reach Top Dance/Electronic Albums since 2008, a track record that features three top 10s, including 2011’s No. 2-peaking Zonoscope.
Finally, on Dance/Mix Show Airplay, Logic lurches 23-10 for his first top 10, with “1-800-273-8255.” The track is the fourth and first top 10, respectively, for featured artists Alessia Cara and Khalid.
