The 1975 Aiming for First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 Chart With ‘I Like It When You Sleep…’
The 1975 is aiming for its first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart next week, with its latest release, "I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It."

The 1975 is aiming for its first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart next week, with its latest release, I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It. The album, released on Feb. 26 through Dirty Hit/Interscope Records, could earn around 100,000 equivalent album units in the week ending March 3, according to industry forecasters.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the new March 19-dated Billboard 200 chart (where The 1975 is heading for No. 1) is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s websites on Sunday, March 6.
The 1975’s Matt Healy: ‘I’ve Never Let Anything Stop Me From Getting Where I’m Going’
The 1975’s new effort follows their breakthrough self-titled album, which debuted and peaked at No. 28 on the Billboard 200 in 2013, but has spent a lengthy 70 weeks (so far) on the list. The set has sold 347,000. It also launched two top 20-charting singles on the Hot Rock Songs chart: “Chocolate” (peaking at No. 13) and “Girls” (No. 12).
I Like It When You Sleep has already notched four top 20 hits on the Hot Rock Songs tally: “Love Me” (No. 7), “Ugh!” (No. 10), “The Sound” (No. 14) and “Somebody Else” (No. 13).
Elsewhere in the top 10, look for Macklemore & Ryan Lewis‘ This Unruly Mess I’ve Made to start in the region, with perhaps 50,000 units (of which over 40,000 could be in pure album sales). The duo’s last album, The Heist, arrived at No. 2 on the chart (its peak) in 2012 with 78,000 copies sold. It went on to sell 1.5 million.
Kelly Clarkson‘s former No. 1 album Piece by Piece is primed for a possible return to the top 10, thanks to buzz generated by her emotional performance of the album’s title track on American Idol (Feb. 25). The album could sell perhaps 15,000-20,000 copies (up from just 2,000 the week previous) and shift a total of 35,000 to 40,000 units (up from 6,000). If the set returns to the top 10, it would mark its second week in the region, following its opening frame at No. 1 on the March 21, 2015-dated chart. (It slipped out of the top 10 in its second week.)
