YouTube livestream and “Lover” video release
Swift’s YouTube livestream will begin at 5:00 p.m. EST, during which she will talk about the album and detail her upcoming merch collection with designer Stella McCartney. In her Instagram story, she posted a video with McCartney and shared that during the livestream, she will talk more about how the two women began working together. At the end, the “Lover” video will premiere. Fans can tune in here.
Music Lab: Taylor Swift Remix
Apple officially kicked off Music Lab: Taylor Swift Remix, where fans can visit Apple Stores all around the world and learn how to create their very own remix of “You Need To Calm Down.” Fans can register to attend and get more info here.
Lover album release
Ah, the moment we’ve all been waiting for. So far, we’ve heard four singles, “Me!,” “You Need To Calm Down,” “The Archer,” and the title track. The 18-track album will be available everywhere at midnight. “There are so many ways in which this album feels like a new beginning,” Swift told Vogue in her Sept. cover issue. “This album is really a love letter to love, in all of its maddening, passionate, exciting, enchanting, horrific, tragic, wonderful glory.”
Swift isn’t just going to release her album and call it a day — she has a full schedule planned. After Lover is released into the world, she will stop by SiriusXM to play stripped-down versions of the new songs. She will also participate in an intimate Q+A with a select group of subscribers, which will air on SiriusXM Hits 1 (ch. 2) as a SiriusXM Town Hall special at 5 p.m. EST. It will also be available via the SiriusXM app and web player and will be rebroadcasted throughout the weekend. The performance will also be available as a Pandora Stories, which a press release describes as being a place “where artists connect with fans in an intimate way, in their own words, using the power of music.”
iHeartRadio secret session audio special
Also on the same day of the Lover release, Swift will stop by iHeartRadio for an album release party featuring exclusive audio from her secret session. Fans can tune in to listen to the singer talk about the album at 8:00 p.m. EST/5:00 p.m. PST on iHeartRadio Pop, Hot AC and AC stations, as well as on Taylor Swift: Lover Radio on the iHeartRadio app. If you miss anything, don’t sweat it — the special can be heard every 30 minutes, all weekend long.
“The Lover Experience” New York City pop-up shop
On the same day the album is released, a pop-up store called “The Lover Experience” will open in NYC. The limited merch was made in collaboration with McCartney, and a sneak peek was recently revealed, showing clothing drenched in tie dye, pastel colors, and other whimsical details. (More info about the store will arrive during the Aug. 22 livestream.)
During her Good Morning America interview on Thursday (Aug. 22), news that the star will be opening the award show accidentally slipped from Swift herself. In addition to giving her first televised performance after the release of Lover, Swift is also tied for most nominations, clocking in at 10, including video of the year and song of the year. This will be her first VMAs performance since “Bad Blood” in 2015. The show will be broadcasted live from New Jersey’s Prudential Center at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.
BBC Live Lounge
Swift was recently announced to be one of the next BBC Live Lounge performers, where artists typically perform a stripped down version of one of their songs as well as a cover. The performance will be filmed and uploaded to BBC Radio 1’s YouTube channel.
“City of Lover” show – Paris
The show is happening 7:30-10:00 p.m. Paris time and fans can enter to win a ticket to the show (including flights and accomodation) here.
