After nearly 20 years on Billboard‘s various charts, singer Tamia scores her highest-charting album ever on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums (dated June 27), as Love Life arrives in the No. 2 slot. It also launches at No. 1 on R&B Albums.
Love Life sold 16,000 copies in the week ending June 14, according to Nielsen Music, up 22 percent compared to the first week sales from her previous album, Beautiful Surprise. The latter set entered Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums at No. 6 in 2012. The new album’s second single “Stuck With Me” concurrently climbs 26-23 in its second week on Adult R&B Songs (up 18 percent in spins at the format). Lead single “Sandwich and a Soda” peaked at No. 20 on the airplay chart (May 23), and marked her 14th trip to the top 20.
‘Flex’ Flies Into Top 10: Over on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, rapper Rich Homie Quan hops 11-9 with “Flex (Ooh Ooh Ooh),” notching his third trek to the top 10, and first as a sole lead act. His previous top 10 came alongside Young Thug on Rich Gang’s “Lifestyle,” peaking at No. 4 on the chart dated November 8, 2014. “Flex” rises eight percent in streaming, to 7.6 million weekly U.S. plays, aiding in its top 10 jump, while continuing for a second week at No. 8 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming chart.
Silento’s ‘Watch Me’ Continues Climbing: Also scaling Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Silento steps 5-4 with “Watch Me,” reaching a new peak in its 16th week on the tally. The song takes the Digital Gainer tag, increasing 17 percent in downloads (to 78,000), while also earning Airplay Gainer honors — rising 31 percent in airplay points. It gains 10 percent in streams (to 11.4 million) contributing to its climb.
