SZA collects a top 10 hit on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart as “Good Days” bumps 11-9 in its second week, on the chart dated Jan. 16. The single, released on Dec. 25, scores bumps in streaming to boost its prospects.
With its advance, “Days” adds a second top 10 to her career roster. “All the Stars,” her collaboration with Kendrick Lamar for the Black Panther soundtrack, rose to No. 5 in 2018.
Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs blends streams, airplay and sales data to rank the most popular R&B/hip-hop songs of the week.
“Days” registered 15.3 million U.S. streams in the week ending Jan. 7, according to MRC Data, up 22% from the previous week’s total of 12.6 million. The gain pushes the track 5-1 to lead the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs chart. There, it becomes SZA’s first No. 1 among seven charted entries since her first in 2017.
Among all tracks, “Days” rallies 12-3 on the all-genre Streaming Songs chart to become the singer-songwriter’s best showing on that list as well.
In addition, the single sold 2,000 copies in the week ending Jan. 7, down 30% from its opening frame. As a result, “Days” slides 4-9 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart. The No. 4 entrance last week tied for SZA’s second-best showing; “Hit Different,” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, likewise began at the mark last September, while “All the Stars” climbed to No. 3 in 2018.
The track also logs its first week on radio, with 500,000 in audience at the R&B/hip-hop format in the week ending Jan. 10, according to MRC Data.
On the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, “Days” jumps 38-23 to mark SZA’s fourth career top 25 hit, and notably, first without the help of any other acts. Previously, she played a featured role on Maroon 5’s “What Lovers Do,” (No. 9 in 2017) and Cardi B’s “I Do” (No. 23, 2018), as well as the aforementioned Kendrick Lamar-collab “All The Stars,” which peaked at No. 7 in 2018.
“Days” comes on the heels of SZA’s other current single, “Hit Different,” which debuted at No. 12 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in September. Both tracks are expected to preview the singer-songwriter’s forthcoming album. The project will be the follow-up to 2017’s Ctrl, which peaked at No. 2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
