SXSW’s Annual K-Pop Showcase Rebrands as ‘Korea Spotlight’ With Crush, Lee Hi, KARD & More
SXSW 2018's Korea Spotlight show features Crush, Lee Hi, KARD, Hyukoh, DPR LIVE, Cifika and more at the The Belmont on Friday, March 16.

After five years as K-Pop Night Out, SXSW’s annual showcase for Korean and K-pop talent returns as Korea Spotlight with a vibrant, exciting lineup of talent highlighting talent across the country’s music industry.
Korea Spotlight will be headlined by chart-topping R&B wunderkind Crush (who recently dropped the smooth “Be by My Side” as a special thank-you song to fans), K-pop’s soulful solo star Lee Hi (whose 2016 Seoulite album hit Top 5 of Billboard‘s World Albums chart track centered around its stunning single “Breathe”), and co-ed quartet KARD (that has been extensively touring around the world with their of-the-moment tropical sound).
As always, independent acts get a prominent stage at the Austin, Texas, festival with rock outfit Hyukoh (who scored a Top 10 entry on World Albums with their first full-length effort 23 last spring), alluring-yet-mysterious pop siren Cifika (whose “MOMOM” collaboration dropped today) Busan’s rising rock quartet Say Sue Me (who recently signed with the British indie label Damnably), and promising hip-hop act DPR LIVE (who Billboard named one of 2018’s must-watch Korean artists after their chart debut late last year).
An annual highlight for international music fans as well as an exciting opportunity for the acts themselves, SXSW’s Korean-music showcase has been a longtime staple put on by the Korean Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) and has featured the likes of Epik High, HyunA, Jay Park, f(x), Red Velvet, MFBTY and more.
Fans should look out for additional K-pop and Korean-music–themed opportunities at SXSW 2018 including panels and potentially other showcases. Korea Spotlight takes place in the evening at The Belmont on March 16. The show is 18-plus.
