In its first week, ending Nov. 19, the set earned 103,000 equivalent album units, with 75,000 in album sales. It arrives at No. 3 on the all-genre Billboard 200, awarding Stapleton his fourth top 10. It also begins as his fourth leader on Americana/Folk Albums.
Produced by Dave Cobb, Starting Over was released Nov. 13. Of its 14 songs, Stapleton co-wrote 11. The set follows Stapleton’s first three Top Country Albums No. 1s: From A Room: Volume 2, which opened atop the chart dated Dec. 23, 2017, with 125,000 units (116,000 in album sales); From A Room: Volume 1, which blasted in atop the list dated May 27, 2017, with 219,000 units (202,000 sold); and Traveller, which launched at No. 2 on May 23, 2015, and then hit No. 1 that Nov. 21, with 177,000 units (153,000 sold). The releases have spent four, eight and 29 weeks at No. 1, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Starting Over title-track first single climbs 11-7, hitting a new high, on the airplay-, streaming- and sales-based Hot Country Songs chart. It drew 9.7 million U.S. streams (up 55%) in the week ending Nov. 19 and flies 16-3 on Country Streaming Songs, becoming Stapleton’s fifth top 10. On Country Airplay, the song bullets at No. 17 with 12.3 million in audience.
