Resident Advisor (RA) has struck a partnership with Spotify that should help get party-goers off their devices and onto the dancefloor.

In an arrangement unveiled this morning, Resident Advisor’s event discovery platform will be integrated with Spotify’s service, which boasts more than 270 million active users across 79 markets.

According to a joint statement, Resident Advisor’s localized event listings will be promoted within the Spotify app which should “provide a new pipeline of support to local venues and independent promoters” and allow music fans to “more easily discover” electronic music events.

“The vitality of local scenes is essential for the sustainability and creativity of the global electronic music community,” comments Nick Sabine, cofounder of Resident Advisor. “Our collaboration with Spotify is a brilliant evolution of the work we have been doing for almost two decades to support the work of the independent artists, venues and promoters which act as the pillars of those scenes.”

Launched in 2001, the Resident Advisor online music magazine and community platform specializes in the worlds of electronic and dance music. Its audience includes DJs, producers, venue owners, promoters, record labels and, naturally, consumers.

Spotify, the music streaming leader, recently reported a fourth-quarter operating loss, but said its user base grew to 124 million paid subscribers and 271 total monthly active users at the close of 2019.
