Spotify has unveiled its list of the most streamed songs of the summer, and to the surprise of no one, Drake lands at No. 1. The Toronto superstar’s “In My Feelings” was streamed more than 393 million times between June 1 and Aug. 20, besting the next entry on the list by 100 million.
Notably, second and third place on Spotify’s tally both involved Cardi B: Maroon 5‘s “Girl Like You” (featuring Cardi B) was streamed 293 million times, just outpacing the rapper’s “I Like It” featuring J Balvin and Bad Bunny) with 289 million streams during the same period.
The top 5 is rounded out by Juice WRLD‘s “Lucid Dreams” and the late XXXTentacion‘s “SAD!” — with the former snagging an informal “breakout star” nod by Spotify’s head of urban music, Carl Chery.
“Juice WRLD is undoubtedly the breakout star of the summer,” said Chery. “His rise was one of the quickest in recent memory but his music has proven to have staying power. His knack for melodies and his willingness to be vulnerable on songs like ‘Lucid Dreams’ connected with his audience in a real way.”
The top 20 also includes Nio Garcia’s “Te Boté – Remix,” featuring Casper Magico, Darrell, Ozuna, Bad Bunny and Nicky Jam, at No. 13. According to Spotify, the track was the most streamed song in nine countries, including Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica. “The current music landscape is much more diverse than it has ever been, and that’s why we’re able to witness these smash breakthroughs from an artist like Nio Garcia,” said Rocio Guerrero, head of global cultures.
As for Drake, “Feelings” wasn’t the only track off of his latest album, Scorpion, to make the top 20: “God’s Plan” (No. 11), “Nice for What” (No. 12), “Don’t Matter To Me” (No. 18) and “Nonstop” (No. 20) also made the cut.
