Spotify Updates App With Streamlined Version Pushing Discovery, Radio & Podcasts

Spotify on Thursday (Oct. 18) unveiled an update to its Premium mobile app on iOS and Android, streamlining its navigation with a focus on music discovery, artist radio stations and podcasts. The aim is to offer listeners a more personal and intuitive experience and was designed based on user direct input and general behavior.

The new version of the app — which is now being rolled out to users — is simplified into three main navigation pages: Home, Search and Your Library. The Browse and Radio pages have been consolidated.

On the Home page, users receive recommendations based on recently played music, genre playlists and their heavy rotation. The Search page, rather than a list of recent searches, has been redesigned to showcase a user’s top genres with thumbnails to check charts, new releases, radio and podcasts placed prominently underneath. And the Your Library page has been reworked to highlight users’ favorite songs, artists, albums playlists and more.

The app “refresh,” as it’s being called, also includes endless artist radio stations that offer limitless streaming based off listener’s musical tastes, with collections curated around any musician. These are updated regularly and are now available for download-able offline play.
