SoundCloud and Noisey are partnering on a new digital singles series intended to promote independent artists, the companies announced on Thursday (June 14).
The SoundCloud x Noisey Singles initiative builds on the First on SoundCloud campaign the streaming service launched in March and will select monthly tracks to launch exclusively on the SoundCloud and Noisey platforms. The song premieres will be followed by featured placement on SoundCloud playlists, editorial coverage on Noisey, listening parties, the creation of original video content — including music videos and interviews — and other media support by the brands.
In order to be eligible to participate, artists must be part of SoundCloud’s invite-only direct monetization program, SoundCloud Premier.
“SoundCloud and Noisey will be hand-picking emerging artists from SoundCloud’s direct monetization program, SoundCloud Premier,” the companies explained to Billboard in a joint statement. “To be eligible to participate, artists will need to have a previously unreleased track ready to launch.”
SoundCloud x Noisey Singles will unveil its first artist in later this month.
“SoundCloud is the foundational partner for artists today, and we are passionate about supporting and empowering them so they can reach new heights in their careers,” said SoundCloud vp, content and community Megan West in a statement. “Building upon our ‘First On SoundCloud’ campaign in March, we saw so much momentum around the artists who participated, and could not be more excited to continue to celebrate and support emerging talent through this new partnership with Noisey — an incredible brand who shares our passion for music and culture.”
Noisey publisher Trevor Silmser added, “At Noisey, we have always gone out of our way to discover young, rising musicians and give them a platform early in their careers. SoundCloud has always shared a similar vision, and we’re excited to partner with them to give up-and-coming artists a new way to be heard.”
