SoundCloud has unveiled a mobile upload feature that allows creators to post their tracks on the go.
Announced Tuesday (Feb. 18), the feature — now available via SoundCloud’s mobile iOS app, with an Android version soon to follow — allows creators to add metadata such as artwork, new titles, genre(s) and descriptions; share the track via Instagram Stories; pitch it to press; and/or send it in a private link to friends via text. The feature is just the latest addition to SoundCloud’s mobile toolkit, which also allows creators to edit previously uploaded tracks, spotlight particular songs, build and manage their profiles and more.
More information on the upload tool is available here.
These changes and others have come under the leadership of current SoundCloud CEO Kerry Trainor, who has prioritized creator-friendly features since joining the company in August 2017. They include the introduction of the SoundCloud Premier direct monetization program, new distribution and analytics tools (via the company’s purchase of artist services company The Repost Network in May 2019) and Promote, a tool that allows creators to place their songs at the top of SoundCloud listeners’ feeds.
SoundCloud currently hosts over 200 million unique tracks by 25 million creators across 180 countries.
