Songtradr Acquires Licensing Agency Big Sync Music

Music licensing platform Songtradr has acquired Big Sync Music, a London-based agency that provides music licensing and rights management services to major brands for advertising campaigns.

Music licensing platform Songtradr has acquired Big Sync Music, a London-based agency that provides music licensing and rights management services to major brands for advertising campaigns. The companies said the acquisition was a multi-million dollar cash and equity transaction. As part of the deal, Big Sync co-founder Unilever Ventures has exited and become a minority shareholder in Songtradr.

Songtradr’s open music marketplace boasts over 400,000 artists from 190-plus countries, giving creators control over how they monetize their music through licensing to brands, music supervisors, filmmakers and streaming platforms. The firm’s proprietary tech uses streaming and social metadata to help those media gatekeepers in the licensing process.

Big Sync, whose client list includes Amazon, Samsung, Lipton, Dove and other household brands, will now have access to a “larger community” of music creators, along with new data-driven technologies to improve its product for brands.

“Leveraging Songtradr’s technology, we are now able to augment our services with streamlined access to a larger community of high quality music talent,” said Big Sync CEO and co-founder Dominic Caisley. “Songtradr’s data and technology infrastructure also allows Big Sync to match a brand’s target product audience with data-matched selections of music. Combining this data intelligence with our teams’ music supervision experience is a game changer and will provide our clients a more efficient and transparent service.”
