Billboard Dance Chart Upstarts: Slushii, Netsky, Felix Cartal & LIGHTS

Each week, Billboard Dance looks at songs & albums rising on Billboard's dance charts.

Slushii feat. Sofia Reyes, “Never Let You Go”

Los Angeles-based DJ/producer Slushii (real name Julian Scanlan) steps 30-28 in his second week on Billboard‘s Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart (dated March 2) with “Never Let You Go,” featuring singer Sofia Reyes. It’s the second and highest-charting entry for both acts, following Slushii’s “There X2” (featuring Marshmello; No. 34, February 2018) and Reyes’ featured vocal turn on Cash Cash’s “How to Love” (No. 29, July 2016). “Never” nets airplay on core-dance affiliates, led by Music Choice’s Dance/EDM channel, KNHC (C89.5) Seattle and SiriusXM’s BPM, according to Nielsen Music.

Netsky feat. Bazzi & Lil Wayne, “I Don’t Even Know You Anymore”

Antwerp, Belgium-based DJ/producer Netsky (real name Boris Daenen) notches his first appearance on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs with “I Don’t Even Know You Anymore,” featuring Bazzi and Lil Wayne (No. 30). The track, which earned 1.3 million U.S. streams and sold 1,000 downloads in the tracking week, is the first showing on the survey for Bazzi and the fourth for Wayne.

Previously, Netsky enjoyed top 10 success on Top Dance/Electronic Albums, entering and peaking at No. 7 in June 2016 with III. That set spawned a hit on Dance/Mix Show Airplay, “Work It Out,” featuring Digital Farm Animals (No. 31). Netsky gathered four hits on Belgium Digital Song Sales in 2012-17, including the chart-topping “Running Low,” featuring Beth Ditto (No. 1, July 2014).

Felix Cartal & LIGHTS, “Love Me”

Vancouver-based DJ/producer Felix Cartal (aka Taelor Deitcher) and a fellow Canadian, singer LIGHTS, debut at No. 47 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs with “Love Me.” It’s the third appearance for Cartal and the fourth for LIGHTS. Following the track’s lyric video release on Valentine’s Day, “Love” drew 365,000 U.S. streams in the week ending Feb. 21.
